During the spring and summer of 2018, I spent ~6 months working for Yaskawa, in their electric motor drives department.

 

I worked in their high power lab, doing performance testing on concept models for their next generation of their high power, 600V, 200-500 hp, 3-phase AC Variable Frequency Drives.

The majority of the testing was UL style certification testing. I primarily focused on IGBT testing and gate drive circuit optimization, but also spent a little time investigating different power supply boards, and doing thermal analysis testing.
